En bloc Capsulectomy. Careful, complete implant and capsule removal.

Overview: In an en bloc capsulectomy, the breast implant is removed together with the surrounding scar tissue capsule, ideally in one piece. It is a technically demanding procedure that requires careful planning.

Who it's for: Patients with capsular contracture, implant rupture, or a concern about implant-related complications, and patients who simply choose to have their implants removed. Candidacy is individual.

What to expect:

  • Procedure: The implant and capsule are removed together when it is safe to do so. You and Dr. Lawal will also discuss whether a breast lift, fat transfer, or replacement implants fit your goals.
  • Recovery: Many patients return to desk work in about one to two weeks, with restrictions on lifting and exercise for about four to six weeks. Drains may be used.
  • Results: Breast shape and volume change after removal, and the appearance evolves as swelling resolves. Dr. Lawal will explain what to expect for your anatomy.

FAQ:

  • Is en bloc always possible? Not always. If the capsule cannot be removed intact safely, Dr. Lawal will explain the safest approach.
  • Will I need a lift? Possibly. Skin and tissue quality after removal are assessed at your consultation.
